“Varied responsibilities, good colleagues, and flexible work.”
My path to working at Trineria started with my diploma project. I was semi-acquainted with one of the owners and a friend told me they might have a position for a diploma worker. I went in for an interview and, as it happened, they were just starting a project that was also a good subject for my diploma work. I started working on my project at Trineria in the spring of 2018. This led to permanent employment and after I graduated, I started working here full-time in July 2019. Before working for Trineria, I had spent most of my time in school, except for one year when I did IT support.
Most of my workday is spent coding, designing, managing projects, developing workflows, and providing IT support for our clients. I like the versatility of my work – it really suits me. If I wanted to spend all of my time coding, I could do that too.
It’s difficult to describe an average workday since I do so many different things. I usually start at 10 am or thereabouts, make sure that projects are in good order, and get ready for meetings if there are any. I go through pull requests and fix/analyse problems if clients have reported any. After lunch I usually work on development projects that we’ve started working on earlier in the week. You can easily get lost in coding for the rest of the day. Sometimes I end up working late, sometimes I finish earlier. It depends on the workload.
The best part about my job is when I get a good grasp of what a client needs. Then I can have an expansive role in things like product design and development. We don’t stress too much about the small things either. When schedules are tight, we do push ourselves. When schedules aren’t as tight, we can kick back a little. Helping clients and solving their problems make you feel really good. Like when a client’s system has been down, we deconstruct what has happened and think of a solution together. We can get things back up and running through expertise and teamwork.
One the most positive aspects about Trineria is the work environment. This is something that I really like. The people are nice and there’s no one barking needless orders at you or micro-managing your doings. The work is flexible, and you can be flexible with it. I tend to spend my free time on the computer too, playing games and watching shows.
